Matt Faddy

My career spans recording studios, television and film, through to large-scale live events and immersive experiences. I started out as a recording engineer in Soho, London, working with artists including Sting, Annie Lennox, Sinéad O’Connor, Supergrass, Iron Maiden and Bobby Womack, before moving into music composition. This led to collaborations with leading London production companies, agencies and directors, writing music for commercials, films and television programmes featuring Rick Stein, Carluccio and Keith Floyd for the BBC.
Based in the UAE since 2002, I have composed and produced music for hundreds of shows and events across the region. These include the Burj Khalifa New Year’s Eve fireworks, the Disney launch in Abu Dhabi, numerous UAE National Day celebrations and the 2024 Aquatics opening ceremony in Qatar.
Alongside live events, I have developed sonic identities for brands such as Du, Dubai TV, One TV, Dubai Mall and Toshiba, as well as soundtracks for regional commercials and channel idents. A particular career highlight came in 2015, when I commisioned to arrange the first official version of the UAE National Anthem, recorded with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, now the officially recognised arrangement. I also co-produced the Dubai Expo 2020 theme song, “This Is Our Time”, in 2021.
Music for cultural spaces has become an increasingly important part of my work. My collaboration with Dubai’s Shindagha Museum began in 2016 and continues today, creating music and soundtracks for its pavilions.
More recent projects include an immersive exhibition exploring the Incense Road in AlUla Old Town, a 3,000-drone and projection-mapping show in Hegra, and music and sound design for the 2025 teamLab launch in Abu Dhabi.
In 2025 I composed the music for the official Expo flag handover in Osaka to Saudi Arabia and more recently my work includes the Official flag handover at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.
